Abu Dhabi’s KEZAD signs deal with Star Paper Mill to build AED200 million manufacturing facility

The new facility will have an installed capacity of 135,000 tonnes and will be used to manufacture recyclable semi-kraft liners, white face liners, test liners, corrugated and sack paper, as well as storage and general-purpose areas. Khalifa Port will handle approximately 10,000 TEUs of cargo per annum as part of its raw material and finished product facility requirements.

The company is also earmarking an additional 32,000 sqm adjacent to the main land parcel earmarked for the project to accommodate expected demand growth.

The project will use the latest innovative technologies to treat the waste generated by the facility, using a sewage treatment plant to recycle the water and reuse it. Raw materials used, including OCC, NCC, NDLKC and sack kraft waste, will be sourced locally in the UAE to reduce transport-related emissions.

Star Paper Mill already operates a tissue manufacturing plant covering an area of ​​over 27,000 square meters with a current installed capacity of 36,000 tons in AD Ports Group’s economic city and free zone hub.
