Irene Cara has died at the age of 63.

The singer-actor, known for singing title songs from the films “Hall of Fame” and “Flash Dancing,” was found dead in his Florida home.

Her publicist, Judith Moose, tweeted: “It is with deep sorrow and on behalf of her family that I announce the passing of Erin Cara. The Academy Award-winning actress, singer, songwriter and producer died at her home in Florida. The cause of her death is currently unknown and will be released as it becomes available.

“Eileen’s family has requested privacy as they process their grief. She was a talented soul and her legacy will live on forever through her music and films. A funeral is imminent and a memorial service for her fans will be planned in the future. (sic in this way)”

Judith wrote in the statement: “This is the absolute worst part of being a publicist. I can’t believe I have to write this, let alone break the news. Please share your thoughts and memories of Erin. I Will read each of them knowing she’ll be smiling from heaven. She adores her fans. (sic)”

Cara was in several off-and-off Broadway musicals before her portrayal of Coco Hernandez in the 1980 film Hall of Fame, which centered on a group of students at New York’s High School of the Performing Arts.

In the movie, Kara sings “Fame” as she walks the streets of New York.

Cara also won an Oscar and a Grammy three years later for “Flashdance…What A Feeling,” the chart-topping song from the 1983 film “Flashdance.”

The New York-born star was actually working on new projects at the time of her death, and her managers planned to continue those efforts.
