Accor appoints Arel as new general manager of Fairmont The Palm

Fairmont The Palm has announced the appointment of Dominic Arel as General Manager, the latest move in his 26-year career with AccorHotels at this award-winning, Arabian-inspired luxury hotel.

A seasoned luxury hospitality professional with a strong background in operations, sales and revenue management. Dominic is passionate about providing his guests and colleagues with unique and memorable experiences. In his role, he will bring his unique expertise, strategic market insight and strong leadership skills to Fairmont Palm Island’s executive team, guiding them through the busy fourth quarter of 2022.

Dominic first joined the Accor Group in 1996 at the Novotel Montréal Centre and moved to the Sofitel Montreal Golden Mile in 2002, where after several promotions he was promoted to Hotel Manager reporting directly to Accor’s Vice President of North America Operations. In 2011, he moved to the United Arab Emirates as Hotel Manager at Sofitel Dubai Jumeirah Beach, where he led the team that won the “Best 5-Star Business Hotel in Dubai 2012” at the MENA Regional Awards, and Hosted the Sofitel Star, Gourmet 2012 art event, showcasing 12 Michelin-starred restaurants.

Dominic took up his first general manager position at Sofitel Lisbon Liberdade in 2013, received ISO1400 certification from Bureau Veritas and achieved the best employee satisfaction among other Sofitel hotels worldwide, After moving to Qatar in 2016, soft opening in Doha – Al Wadi Hotel – MGallery by Sofitel.

His love for Dubai has remained the same, with Dominic returning to the United Arab Emirates in 2019 as General Manager of Swissotel Al Ghurair and Swissotel Living Al Ghurair before joining The Palm Jumeirah at the prestigious Fairmont The Palm in September 2022 hotel.

Dominic holds a Diploma in Hospitality Management, an Advanced Certificate in Human Resource Management in Canada, and is a graduate of the Master’s Degree in International Hospitality Management at the Accor Institute in Paris, France.

In his free time, Dominic is a foodie who enjoys spending time in the kitchen preparing meals, he also enjoys spending time with his family and traveling, as well as discovering new hospitality trends. – arab trade news agency
