Tammy Rivera (Tammy Rivera) visited CVS in DeKalb County on Sunday and visited social media on social media. She was allegedly racially discriminated against by an employee. Tammy posted a series of videos on her Instagram account, explaining that she often went to the local CVS, but her experience was different this time.
Tammy claimed that a new employee followed her down the aisle while she was shopping and mentioned that she opened a package before buying, which prompted the lady to tell her not to open the product. Tammy claimed that the woman spoke to her in a childlike manner and told her to leave the store.
“This lady is sitting here, she must be new here, she is looking at me in the aisle, like fixing things in the aisle,” Tammy said. “I was watching her looking at me. I opened a bag and she was staring at me. When I opened the bag, she said,’Don’t do that.'”
The situation escalated, and Tammy chose to leave the store after the employee called the police.
According to @TMZ_tv, Tammy called CVS to complain to the general manager of the store, and the general manager apologized for this. A CVS representative told TMZ that the company has a “firm non-discrimination policy” and is committed to ensuring that all customers “are respected and receive courteous customer service.”
The representative also mentioned that the company has launched an investigation into the incident.
Tammy later told TMZ that she did not want the lady to lose her job, but hoped that she would receive more education and training on how to deal with black or Latino clients. As CVS declined to comment, the woman’s employment status is unclear.
