AD Ports enters drydock and repair market with new joint venture

AD Ports Group, a leading facilitator of global trade, logistics and industry, says it has joined forces with UAE-based Premier Marine Engineering Services, a company specializing in shipbuilding and repair for the marine and offshore industries, in a new joint venture, Safeen Drydocks .

The joint venture, Safeen Drydocks, 51% owned by AD Ports Group, will provide a wide range of services in the region, including drydocking, offshore repair, shipbuilding and refurbishment.

Safeen Drydocks’ operations center will be located in Khalifa Port and include a 45,000-square-meter shipyard and repair facility, a 350-meter quay wall for offshore repair of ships, and a floating drydock for ship maintenance and refurbishment.

The floating drydock is expected to start operations in July, while the shipyard has already started building two barges for UAE customers.

Once fully operational, the hub will be operated by Safeen Drydocks and will be fully equipped to accommodate a variety of vessel types including tankers, bulk carriers, container ships, offshore vessels and jack-up rigs.

Through the new joint venture, AD Ports Group will leverage its reputation and experience as one of the world’s leading maritime logistics, industry and trade facilitators, and provide terminal space at Khalifa Port for the development and operation of a new service center .

Premier Marine will contribute its technical knowledge and experience to help customers build, repair and maintain ships and other marine assets in an environmentally sustainable manner.

These two entities will not only serve the needs of the Safeen Group’s marine fleet, but also the needs of a wider regional and international client base in the shipping and offshore marine sectors.
