ADIB and UAE Pro League announce partnership to sponsor Pro League Cup

  • New Sponsorship Agreement Strengthens ADIB’s Commitment to Societal Health and Well-Being

Abu Dhabi, UAE: Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), a leading Islamic financial institution, and the UAE Professional League have announced a new sponsorship agreement, under which ADIB will become the main sponsor of the UAE League Cup. From the 2022-2023 season, the cup will be named “ADIB Cup”. The sponsorship agreement will run for three years.

The signing ceremony took place at ADIB Headquarters on Monday 4 July, ADIB Group CEO Nasser Al Awadhi and He Yibdullah Nasser Al JunaibiChairman UAE Professional League.

The new sponsorship agreement reflects ADIB’s commitment to the health and well-being of society by supporting sports and wellness initiatives and programmes that encourage healthy lifestyles, and the Bank’s commitment to enhancing communication with the 14 clubs’ vast fan bases participating in league and cup competitions .

Nasser Al Awadhi, CEO of ADIB Groupsaid: “We are delighted to announce that ADIB will be the main sponsor of the Emirates League Cup for the next three years. Football has always been a key part of our marketing strategy as it provides us with the opportunity to connect with our football fan base. This partnership will also allow us to play a bigger role locally, bringing fans closer to their favourite games and creating unique opportunities and experiences for them. This sponsorship is also in line with our support for sport and youth and the promotion of social health and well-being.”

Al Awadhi added: “Through this sponsorship, we seek to strengthen the position of the UAE football community and support the association’s vision to elevate local football to a global level, which will positively reflect the UAE’s status as a global centre for professional sports championships. We look forward to Organizing numerous events with the league to take the sport to the next level and nurture and encourage younger generations to practice it.”

He Yibdullah Nasser Al JunaibiVice-President of the UAE Football Association and Chairman of the UAE Professional League, expressing hope that the agreement will help support efforts aimed at developing the entire professional game, especially the League Cup. The sponsorship stems from the excellent relationship between the Alliance and ADIB, and reflects a three-year strategic partnership to serve the UAE and its country, while investing in their talent to increase creativity and excellence.

Al-Junaibi added: “This agreement reflects our strong partnership with national entities, especially Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, lights up the UAE’s skies, and is a company with progressive vision, new ideas A pioneer who reached the pinnacle of the bank’s image and became the benchmark for innovative, seamless and modern service.”

Al-Junaibi said that each season the league seeks to improve the commercial, marketing and organisational aspects of the professional game in order to create a comprehensive environment conducive to the development of UAE football in line with the 2020-2030 strategic plan. This will lead to best practices and applications that will ensure the continuity and continued development of these competitions, especially the ADIB Cup.Over the past few years, the event has established itself at all skill and promotion levels, and has come out on top every season.

Notably, ADIB is committed to the communities in which it operates and has prioritized meaningful community initiatives that reflect this commitment, such as the Future of Champions League. The programme aims to raise awareness among Emirati children about the importance of physical activity in maintaining health and fitness, and provide them with a fun experience through the football matches they participate in with the team. In 2011, the bank launched the Future of Champions League, a football tournament attended by more than 3,000 children from different schools each year.

The bank continues to work on implementing a youth development programme based on recruiting, developing and enhancing local skills.The plan will include visits to university colleges across the country and funding for sporting programmes such as the National League of Cricket Schools and the Emirates Professional League.
