ADIO, Noon partners with UAE’s largest e-commerce fulfillment center facility

Noon.com has announced the construction of the UAE’s largest logistics centre in Abu Dhabi as part of a major investment in the emirate’s fast-growing e-commerce sector.

The massive 252,000-square-meter facility, the result of a partnership between the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) and Noon, will create thousands of jobs and drive the next phase of growth in the UAE’s digital economy.

Located in the Khalifa Economic Zone (KEZAD) in Abu Dhabi, the new fulfillment center will be designed and built using KEZAD Group’s bespoke solutions. Noon will leverage the emirate’s strategic location and connectivity to improve its delivery services to its millions of customers in the UAE and open up new opportunities for small businesses to sell their products online through the noon platform. The center will advance the region’s e-commerce infrastructure by introducing new automation technologies.

ADIO is providing financial and non-financial incentives for fulfillment center development. The Abu Dhabi ecosystem’s support for businesses, coupled with the KEZAD Group’s established infrastructure, provides a solid foundation for noon’s fulfillment business to grow rapidly in the region.

ADIO Acting Director General Abdulla Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi said: “Noon’s partnership with ADIO and the KEZAD Group is significant in scale and impact, creating thousands of jobs and new opportunities for the private sector to access e-commerce platforms and the emirate’s innovation ecosystem. Leveraging noon’s cutting-edge logistics, innovation and technological expertise, this large-scale fulfillment center will strengthen Abu Dhabi’s emerging strength in e-commerce and logistics, while promoting the development of adjacent industries such as transportation and warehousing.”

The new fulfillment center will enable fast delivery of products across the UAE market and act as a hub for serving noon’s smaller fulfillment centers. Noon’s facility will also feature new automation technology for storage, material movement and sorting. Noon will recruit more than 6,000 new employees, from entry to executive positions, creating opportunities for talent of all education, background and skill levels in the UAE.

Noon’s new presence in Abu Dhabi further strengthens e-commerce as an emerging sub-sector within the emirate’s ICT cluster. It will enable entrepreneurs, start-ups and SMEs to leverage noon’s platform, advanced technology and extensive delivery network to reach new customers. Noon will operate in accordance with Abu Dhabi’s e-commerce policy launched in August 2021 to unlock investment opportunities in the emirate.

Completed in 2024, the facility will be delivered as an Estidama 2 Pearl rated sustainable building that incorporates initiatives to minimise water, energy and waste, as well as the use of local materials, thereby reducing transport emissions and boosting the local economy.
