[ad_1]

Borouge, a joint venture between Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) and Austrian chemical giant Borealis, has completed the turnaround project for its second plant in Al Ruways Industrial City, some 250 kilometers west of the UAE capital, to ensure safe and secure transportation. Facility operation for one operating cycle.

Borouge’s first plant (Borouge 1) opened in 2001 and has an annual polyethylene capacity of 450,000 tonnes, which was increased to 600,000 tonnes in 2005, the company statement said.

As a leading petrochemical company offering innovative and differentiated polyolefin solutions, Borouge’s total annual production capacity for North Star polyolefins (polyethylene and polypropylene) increased in 2010 following the start-up of its second plant (Borouge 2) increased to 2 million tons.

In order to accelerate development and increase capacity to meet the growing demand for differentiated polyolefin solutions, Borouge started up its third plant (Borouge 3) in 2015, increasing its total annual capacity to 4.5 million tons, Borouge’s fifth polypropylene plant (PP5) will follow in early 2022, bringing the company’s total capacity to 5 million tonnes of polyolefins per year.

Dr. Saif Al Hajri, Borouge’s vice president of maintenance, noted that the capacity of its petrochemical complex in Al Ruways Industrial City has increased by more than 10 times in 20 years to meet the growing demand for the company’s solutions and products locally, regionally and globally.

He said the turnaround was carried out by staff from across Borouge, including operations, maintenance, HSE and operational excellence, as well as planners and contractors.

“We regularly overhaul Borouge’s petrochemical plants to ensure safe and reliable operations for the next five years,” Al Hajri explained.

“The overhaul of the Borouge 2 plant began in February and was successfully and safely completed in mid-March 2023, with the plant’s operations well maintained and running smoothly,” he added.-TradeArabia News Service
