After Biden formally nominated Saranda Young, the confirmation vote of the Senate now determines her nomination to take effect. However, as of now it is not clear when the confirmation vote will take place-although it should be noted that as early as March, she was confirmed as deputy director with a 63-67 vote and received the support of a dozen Republicans.
According to sources, the only potential obstacle to Yang’s historic new title may be Senator Joe Manchin, the Democratic Party of West Virginia, who recently proved to be a key vote on President Biden’s agenda in the Congress Chamber.
Previously, Shalanda Young was the staff director of the House Appropriations Committee. After the news of her nomination came out, Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi said through an official statement that it was “deservedly.”
