Global hospitality giant Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts and Atlantic Coast Hotels Group, owned by Abu Dhabi-based real estate development company Q Holding, will open a luxury hotel in Qasr al Bahar later this year – Four Seasons Rabat Its extensive renovation.
Kasr Al Bahr, which means “sea castle,” was built in the 19th century as a sprawling royal summer residence overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and later became a military hospital before closing in 1999, a statement from Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts said.
Following an extensive renovation of the 12-acre cliffside resort, the Rabat hotel will usher in a new era for the historic hotel, with 204 luxuriously furnished rooms and suites overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, it said.
“As Four Seasons expands its presence in Morocco, we are proud to build on the success of our existing properties in Marrakech and Casablanca, while launching complementary experiences in the country’s capital,” said Global President Bart Carnahan. The hotel will feature seven restaurants and lounges; a spa with treatment rooms and an indoor pool; several outdoor resort-style pools; and extensive meeting and event space.
The hotel’s thoughtful restoration was led by Moroccan architect Karim Chakor of META Atelier d’Architecture, while Roger Nazarian and Associates was selected to lead the hotel’s interior design and landscaping.
