Ahmed bin Mohammed: National Sports Strategy 2031 reflects UAE leadership’s emphasis on sports sector development
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Vice-Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the UAE National Olympic Committee (NOC), was welcomed by Vice President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed The decision of the UAE Cabinet chaired by His Highness bin Rashid Al Maktoum welcomes the approval of the National Sports Strategy 2031 by the UAE Minister and Ruler of Dubai.
Sheikh Ahmed said the new strategy reflects the emphasis placed by the leadership on the development of the sports sector and its role in promoting the country’s prosperity and well-being. His Highness commended the strategy, which aims to implement 17 initiatives in the coming years. The goals of these initiatives include developing sports professionals, identifying talented athletes in schools, upgrading physical education methods, increasing regulation of the industry, and increasing the proportion of the population playing multiple sports to 71%.
His Highness also said that the efforts to develop sports professionals in line with the NOC’s efforts to prepare professional athletes for major regional and international competitions, according to the standards set by the committee.
He further stated that the committee’s efforts could help increase the proportion of the population playing different sports to 71% by 2031. He added that NOCs have launched a number of initiatives to promote sport in the community.
