UAE National Olympic Committee President His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum leads UAE delegation to the 34th meeting of the Presidents of the National Olympic Committees of the Arab States Cooperation Council Gulf (GCC), today (Friday) in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
The UAE delegation includes His Excellency Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, First Vice-President and Chairman of the Executive Office of the National Olympic Committee (NOC), UAE; Member of the Executive Office, His Excellency Eng. Sheikh Salem bin Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi and Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Lacey; Azza bint Sulaiman, Assistant Secretary General for Administrative and Financial Affairs, UAE National Olympic Committee; and Director of Commerce, UAE Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia Mohammed Al Qahtani.
His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal, Minister of Sports of Saudi Arabia and Chairman of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee (SOPC), in His Excellency Dr. Nayef Falah M. Al-Hajraf, Secretary General of the Cooperation Organization Witnessed by the opening of the meeting of the Gulf Council of Arab States.
The meeting discussed a number of topics and approved changing the name of the Gulf Sports Dispute Settlement Body to the GCC Sports Arbitration Body, with its headquarters in Bahrain. Officials at the meeting thanked the UAE National Olympic Committee, headed by Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed, for its commitment to host the inaugural GCC Youth Games in 2023. The meeting also approved a number of GCC sporting events planned to be held in GCC countries.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of promoting women’s participation in all sporting events and increasing the number of women’s sports competitions in the GCC region.
