The UAE budget airline Air Arabia announced its decision to launch “Fly Jinnah”, a new low-cost airline based in Pakistan.
The airline will be a joint venture between Air Arabia and the Pakistani business group Laxon Group.
‘Fly Jinnah’ will initially be located in Karachi to provide services for a series of domestic routes within Pakistan, and then will expand its international route network.
The work to ensure the Air Operations Certificate (AOC)—allowing airlines to start operations—will begin soon. More detailed information about the launch date, fleet and destination network will be announced soon.
According to the International Air Transport Association, the air transport industry is estimated to support Pakistan’s GDP of 3.3 billion U.S. dollars. In general, 1% of the country’s GDP is supported by investment in the air transport sector and foreign tourists arriving by plane.
