The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center under the Department of Culture and Tourism of Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) launched a rich cultural program for the Al Ain Book Fair in 2021, inviting more than 50 leading UAE scholars and writers to participate .
The 10-day event will be held at the Zayed Central Library in Al Ain from September 21st to 30th. It will include a total of 24 dialogue sessions, with two to three sessions per day covering heritage, literature, poetry, knowledge and art .
“We are very pleased to set up a rich and extensive project for this year’s Al Ain Book Fair and open up new horizons for participants and the entire community in Al Ain,” said His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Tamim, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center.
“We have designed events to celebrate our 50 years of cultural heritage and the talented writers and poets behind this heritage. We will also highlight our glorious present and the emerging talents that are destined to inspire the next 50 years. By providing such a wealth of An extraordinary experience, we hope to inspire the community’s enthusiasm for culture, especially when we return to a normal lifestyle after the pandemic.”
The program features local and regional speakers, including His Excellency Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, cultural adviser to the President of the United Arab Emirates and President of UAE University; HE Saeed Al Nazari, Director of the Federal Youth Bureau; Isobel Abulhoul, CEO and Trustee of the UAE Literary Foundation ; Abdullah Al Gothami, Saudi scholar and critic, and many others.
The expo will also invite famous writers and writers such as Sultan Al Ameemi, Ahmad bin Thani, Asmaa Siddiq Al Mutawaa, Adel Khozam, Lulwa Al Mansoori and Ali Abu Rish, as well as poets such as Ibrahim Al Hashimi, Mohammed bin Rashid Al Shamsi, Awad bin Al Saba Al Ketbi, playwright Saleh Karama, etc.
The five dialogues focused on heritage: Zayed and Al Ain…how this place inspired the founding fathers; Al Ain, “50 Years of World Heritage and National Identity”; Al Ain was included in the World Cultural Heritage List…a model of Arabia ; Heritage and heritage… Overview of Al Ain Castle and Fortress; and Al Ain Field Research Project.
The 11 literature courses include: Arabic language and cultural understanding; the future of UAE literature: young writers and visions for the next 50 years; UAE wealth: 50 plans for the upcoming 50 people; 2021 UAE Authors and Literature Awards; Literary Ai Because… Describe the innovation of women and the land; Emirati writers in world languages; UAE novels: public heritage and literary form; The story of Al Ain in the legend of the voyager; Children’s literature… a groundbreaking experience; depicting the future girl of the past ; And basic rhetoric and leadership skills.
In terms of poetry, the two sessions covered: the history of poetry… the poet Ain celebrates 50 years of creativity; and the poet Ain in the eyes of the poet… poetry reading.
The three knowledge sessions included: UAE Centenary and Zayed’s ambitions; the identity between the lines in the novels of UAE women writers; and the role of oral history in cultivating national identity.
Art courses include: stars on the UAE skyline; UAE music and theater production…realistic and future vision; and UAE art, lighting and talent at Al Ain Film Festival.
The Golden Jubilee in the UAE will also be celebrated at the book fair, with various events, cultural dialogues, programs for children, entertainment and education programs, and skills development seminars.
The exhibition management staff of the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center is committed to ensuring the safety of all visitors, exhibitors and staff with the highest standards. Visitors over 16 years old must have two doses of COVID-19 vaccine, and all presenters, participants and visitors over 12 years old must prove that the PCR test result obtained through the Al Hosn smartphone app is negative no more than 48 hours before .
Visitors’ body temperature will be measured at the entrance, and social distancing will be maintained throughout the venue. The number of visitors in the exhibition halls and pavilions will also be restricted to avoid overcrowding.
