Al Ain Book Fair will return this month with an exciting plan of family-friendly activities

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Tanun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, the representative of the ruler of the Aran region, the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center (ALC) of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Abu Dhabi (Abu Dhabi DCT Abu Dhabi) Bi) proudly launched the 2021 edition of the Al Ain Book Fair which was held at the Zayed Central Library in Al Ain from September 21 to 30, with the theme “Reading Generation Is Leading Generation”.

The 2021 Al Ain Book Fair will be held in an innovative hybrid format, combining physical events with virtual meetings broadcast through the exhibition’s digital platform, so that as many audiences as possible can participate in the event.

“Literacy is an important part of any successful country. According to the vision of the leadership of the UAE, DCT Abu Dhabi remains committed to supporting a sustainable publishing industry and promoting reading as a means to promote the establishment of a knowledge-based economy,” he said in Abu Dhabi His Excellency Saood Al Hosani, Deputy Minister of DCT. “The Al Ain Book Fair provides all levels of our community with important access to written text and all forms of culture, and provides our young people with the opportunity to share their talents and creativity with the world. This year’s fair will focus on For the UAE Jubilee, the fair will play an indispensable role in displaying and disseminating the cultural heritage of the UAE that we are proud of, highlighting the literary and cultural products that have shaped our national identity over the past five years.”

More than 100 exhibitors and publishers from all over the UAE will participate in this year’s fair, showcasing the latest literary works and cater to readers of all ages. The event will also invite 50 speakers, including famous cultural figures, writers, creators and artists from the UAE, to share and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the UAE over the past half century.

His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Tamim, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center, said: “Following the great success of the recent Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, we are very much looking forward to the return of Al Ain Book Fair, which is a highlight of Abu Dhabi’s annual cultural agenda. With its unique local perspective, the Expo will be held and celebrated every year with selected Emirati writers and intellectuals, allowing our local talents to directly interact with their readers and be introduced to new audiences. By truly providing for everyone We especially hope that young people who are susceptible to the diversification plan can be inspired by the joy of reading, which is in line with our mission of cultivating creative and free-thinking future generations.”

The exhibition will provide a wealth of programs to celebrate the “50 Years of the UAE”day‘, featuring cultural seminars, book clubs, music performances and poetry evenings. The whole family will have a lot of fun. Children’s activities include various entertainment, educational programs and workshops, focusing on learning and skill development.

The management of the exhibition will implement best practice preventive measures to ensure the safety of all visitors, exhibitors and staff. All adults visiting the Al Ain Book Fair must receive a complete vaccine (those who have received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and applied for Green ALHOSN) and must show a negative PCR test result in the past 48 hours. All visitors must install and activate the ALHOSN application on their smartphones. Temperature checks will be conducted at the entrance and a series of safety measures will be taken to ensure social distancing. The number of visitors in the hall and exhibition hall is limited.
