Al Fattan LTechUVC Green Energy to open in Abu Dhabi

[ad_1]

Abu Dhabi is set to welcome a new green hydrogen and ammonia production project as UAE-based Al Fattan Energy and South Korean renewable energy developer LTechUVC jointly form a special purpose company (SPC). Known as ALFATTAN LtechUVC Green Energy, the SPC will oversee the development of a 200MW-scale green hydrogen and ammonia plant at a total project cost of approximately US$400 million. The project will be located in the KEZAD (Temporary) Zone, the largest industrial park in Abu Dhabi.

The SPC will collaborate with key Korean companies with expertise in the field, with LTechUVC leading the work of the “Korean Team”. The goal of the initiative is to produce green hydrogen and ammonia on a large scale, with the ultimate aim of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Al Fattan Energy, a subsidiary of Al Fattan Holding Investment, brings to the project its extensive experience in nuclear energy, oil and gas and renewable energy engineering. LTechUVC is a consulting company focusing on hydrogen energy business. The 20MW hydrogen fuel cell project will start construction in May this year.

The investment in hydrogen production marks the first step in the development of hydrogen technology in the UAE, with the support and possible business relationship of key UAE government agencies. South Korea is one of the world’s three major importers of synthetic ammonia. Recently, it has decided to promote green synthetic ammonia mixed combustion power generation in coal-fired and gas-fired power plants, with a view to achieving “zero greenhouse gas emissions” by 2050.

ALFATTAN LtechUVC Green Energy SPC will be officially inaugurated on March 17, 2023. The project represents an exciting new phase in the development of green hydrogen and ammonia technologies and is expected to attract significant interest from investors and businesses in the UAE and beyond.

Jamal Khalid Al Nuaimi, General Manager of ALFATTAN Defense system and Chairman of Al Fattan Group, mentioned in an interview that the group started the shipbuilding industry in 1987 under the direction of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. is a major supporter of the industry. In 2021, the group established Al Fattan Energy to play a leading role in engineering and maintenance in the nuclear and renewable energy sectors in the UAE and MENA region. Al Fattan Energy aims to secure leadership in this field and contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by developing a green hydrogen ammonia project in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, by cooperating with leading Korean conglomerates.

In a separate interview with Jiyoung Lee, CEO of LtechUVC, she said the South Korean government announced its “zero green” carbon-neutral vision in November 2021, and set a goal to achieve sustainable growth through the transition to renewable energy and in-generation electricity generation. to achieve the goal of zero carbon emissions. hydrogen. In this context, LTECH UVC is promoting the neutralization of overseas new energy, renewable energy and hydrogen energy projects by 2050 to ensure the production, supply and utilization of clean hydrogen energy. LTECH UVC intends to purchase green ammonia in a timely and stable manner through this project, expand low-carbon power generation, establish a hydrogen value chain as soon as possible, and play a leading role in the future energy business.
