Al Gurg visionary leader, business great, dies

[ad_1]

Easa Saleh Al Gurg, a visionary leader who left an enduring legacy in business and politics, has passed away.

As a member of the Trucial States Development Board, Al Gurg has contributed significantly to establishing the foundations of the UAE.

More than sixty years ago, he set out on his journey to success with preparation, foresight and strategy. At Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group (ESAG), these factors have led the way for growth and continuous improvement, creating a multidimensional conglomerate with businesses in retail, building and construction, industry and real estate. Al Gurg’s commitment to operational excellence is also reflected in the Group’s enduring joint venture partnerships with Al Gurg Unilever, Siemens, Al Gurg Fosroc, Al Gurg Smollan, Akzo Nobel Decorative Paints, Siemens Healthcare and Siemens Mobility.

shaping history

In addition to his business interests, he has also played a key role in shaping the history of the UAE, being a member of the deliberative committee of Trucial’s National Development Office. In 1971, he was named executive director of the Trucial States Development Board.

He was Ambassador to the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland from 1991 to 2009. Al Gurg was awarded a CBE (Commander Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) in 1990. He was also awarded Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the late President of the UAE, and in 1997 the Order of Zayed II, the UAE’s highest civil order.

In addition to his great contribution to the country and its development, Al Gurg has created an enduring philanthropy. Having been engaged in philanthropic work for decades, he believes that the establishment of the Al Gurg Charitable Foundation is the most correct decision he has ever made.

The backbone of the UAE business environment

The Foundation was established in October 2010 by decree of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, with all funds coming from the founder’s private funds and real estate.

A stalwart of the UAE business landscape will remain in the memory of many whose philanthropy touched their lives and provided numerous scholarships to young students at various educational institutions supported by the Al Gurg family. — trade arab news agency
