Fahad Ali Al Shamsi, secretary-general of the UAE and Asian Jiu-Jitsu Federation, said that holding the tournament for children and amateurs was a deliberate decision by the organisers.

“Given the high demand we see for participation, UAEJJF has made the right decision to launch World Pro through the Abu Dhabi World Jiu-Jitsu Festival,” he said.

“We are witnessing unprecedented levels of public participation and dazzling competition.

“The tournament provides a starting point in the careers of many players, and today’s game is proof of that. The players shined in the amateur group and the results show their conviction that this tournament is the first step on the road to success.”
