Alec Baldwin says he has lost five jobs since ‘Rust’ was filmed.
He added that if it weren’t for the support of his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, he might have quit the film industry, who is expecting their seventh child this fall.
Baldwin, 64, spoke to CNN about the tragedy of cinematographer Halina Hutchins being shot on set last October: “I was fired from another job yesterday. There, I Getting ready to go to a movie, hop on a plane…I’ve been talking to these guys for months and they told me yesterday that we don’t want to make a movie with you because of this.”
He added Hilaria, 38, of support: “If I didn’t have my wife, I don’t know where I would be now…if I didn’t have her, I’d probably quit, retire, go, you know sold me All the things you have, buying a house in the middle of nowhere, just knowing you do find something else to do, sell real estate.”
Baldwin added that if he did return to film or TV, he would reject real guns and would like to leave the creation of realistic pistols to digital effects.
He also said that he does not go a day without thinking about Hutchins and the day she was shot last October.
Baldwin added: “Everyone adored her.
“She died, it was the worst thing. Someone died, it was avoidable. It was unnecessary.
“I’ve been thinking about this every day of my life.”
Baldwin also said he did not believe he or anyone else would face charges in the deadly “Rust” shooting.
He is now awaiting a decision from prosecutors who will decide whether he should be criminally charged for the accident on the New Mexico Western set.
Baldwin puts blame for the tragedy on 24-year-old Hannah Gutierrez Reed, who worked as an armorer and prop assistant on Rust, as well as assistant director Dave Hall Thomas, who is said to be between 48 and 51 years old, handed it over to him. gun.
Through their lawyers, Gutierrez Reed and Halls accused Baldwin of shifting the blame onto others.
Baldwin shot back in his CNN chat: “Someone put a live bullet in the gun, he should have known better.
“That’s (Gutierrez Reed’s) job. Her job is to look at the ammo and put in fake or empty rounds, and there shouldn’t be any live ammo on set.
“There are two people who aren’t doing what they’re supposed to do. I’m not sitting there saying I want them, you know, to go to jail, or that I want their life to be hell. I don’t want that, but I want everyone to know, It’s these two people who are responsible for what happened.”
But Baldwin added: “I sincerely believe … (investigators) will say it was an accident. It’s so tragic.”
He also stressed that he did not want to “condemn” Gutierrez Reed.
