Algeria’s national oil and gas resource development agency “Alnaft” will launch Exalt, a fully integrated digital platform developed by SLB for seamless access anytime, anywhere at Adipec 2022.
Cutting edge technology platforms are being deployed in conjunction with the newly enacted Hydrocarbon 19-13 Act to manage hydrocarbon activities.
The new law aims to develop the institutional framework and introduce a simplified and competitive tax regime to facilitate foreign partnerships in the industry.
The new measures and associated flexibilities are aimed at promoting the sustainable and optimal development and exploitation of the country’s hydrocarbon resources to meet the needs of the national and international energy markets, while promoting environmental protection.
rich history
Algeria has a long history of oil and gas exploration and production (E&P) activities dating back to the 1950s. These activities generate a wealth of E&P digitized data representing one of the key competitive attributes of the country’s oil and gas industry; the “National Database Repository (NDR)”.
Since then, Algeria has been developing and increasing its reserves through its national oil company Sonatrach and joint ventures with international oil companies and investors.
In terms of potential reserves, Algeria ranks tenth in the world in terms of proven natural gas reserves, third in unconventional natural gas reserves, and 12 trillion barrels in proven oil reserves, ranking 16th in the world. Potential from very high export capacity; from oil and LNG offloading infrastructure to a dense pipeline network for oil and gas transportation.
According to a recent statement from Alnaft’s leadership: “60% of Algeria’s hydrocarbon potential is untapped or untapped and needs to be developed”. – arab trade news agency
