Hey, that’s the snow business…
When it finally opens (there’s still a chance this summer), Abu Dhabi Snow Park will be “one of the largest snow parks in the world” – offering up-close encounters with themed characters, as well as thrilling rides and attractions.
It’s an effort by the Majid Al Futtaim Group and part of the wider construction of Reem Mall – a $1.2 billion mega-retail project that is almost a city in itself. Once fully completed, it will feature 85 different dining options and more than 450 stores within 2 million square feet of retail space.
Reem Mall was also largely off-limits to the public in the moments before its launch – but the first flagship store, a giant Carrefour, has been selling groceries to shoppers since February of this year.
But what’s new with Snow Abu Dhabi?
We now have some very specific information on what rides and attractions will be available in this land of eternal winter.
We can look forward to 12 exhilarating rides and 17 fascinating attractions spread over 10,000 square feet. The temperature will be regulated to an ultra-low temperature of 2ºC and the slopes will be covered in a snow coating to a depth of 500mm.
Confirmed attractions include two giant slides, one called “Ice and Floes Toboggan Race,” which sounds nice and gentle, and “Grauppel’s Summit Escape,” which doesn’t sound so nice.
Rides include Entrance Plaza, Snowy Owl Flight, Magic Carpet, Polar Express Train, Crystal Carousel and Ice Floe Bumper Tube, Troll Bowl, Drift Downhill Run, Snow Rabbit Mountain and Magic Tree.
The Snow Abu Dhabi dining experience takes the form of The Lodge Restaurant, Grotto Amphitheatre, Ice Café, Party Room and VIP Room.
If you’re a visual type, Reem Mall also recently shared a couple of photos, via their social channels, giving you a sneak peek at the rosy-cheeked house.

Winter is here, but when?
We’re pretty sure it’s 2022, and there are signs that it could be this summer, but the short and only real answer is we don’t know.A new spring for a new hope though, Snow Abu Dhabi does appear to have his own Instagram account @snowauh. Follow this space.
