The Duttons’ award-winning violinist Amy Dutton Arambulo has announced that she has been diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer.
“As many people know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. And we’re sure there have been many people like us over the last few years who have only vaguely acknowledged the month, perhaps by donating money, congratulating survivors, perhaps mourning victims, or participating in charity contests or other fundraisers,” A press release from The Duttons said.” This year, things are different. This year, Breast Cancer Awareness Month is knocking on our door. “
Arambulo was diagnosed on Tuesday, September 6, and Thursday, October 6, and the Duttons shared the diagnosis publicly with their fan, Arambulo.
On Wednesday, October 5, she started her first chemo.
“We are all hopeful and optimistic, and so is Amy. So far, she is feeling great and plans to perform and continue to perform as much as she can,” the release said. “She is determined to beat this disease. She is fortunate to have a great team of doctors and an entire family who are always there to help her through this difficult time.”
Fans and followers of The Duttons will remember that Arambulo’s youngest son, Josiah, is a leukemia survivor. He received his last chemotherapy in November 2016 and has been in remission since.
“It’s interesting that going through the whole experience with Josiah, I’m less scared and grateful. I know exactly what to expect,” Arambro said in a statement. “I know what questions to ask my doctor, and I am familiar with the whole process. Having all this knowledge has been a blessing in my life, and having such strong and loving support from my family is another.”
The Duttons are currently performing at the Yakov Smirnoff Theater in Branson, while the Dutton Home Theater is undergoing repairs following a fire earlier this year.
“We ask for your prayers and support during this time and ask that you call family members you haven’t contacted in a while or friends you’ve been thinking about to give them your time and love,” the release said, “We will continue our current performance schedule as planned, and we hope to see you at the show.”
This month’s The Duttons show at 8pm on select days. The Yakov Smirnoff Theater is located at 470 State Hwy 248 in Branson.
