(CNN) The biggest night in Hollywood used to be so big, but I digress.
Today, the debate is as much an annual tradition as awards season itself: About The Relevance of Lavish Ceremonies, red carpet highlights – and low light – and, of course, how long the show seems to last. (This year’s Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel joked“I want to run the show all the way to Good Morning America.”) But amidst all these nitpicking, Somewhat lost, I believe, is the little glitz and glamor we all enjoy every once in a while.
Which brings us to this week’s pop life, which will be brief because we’re here for a good time, not a long time.I’m not toyed with My own newsletter, of course This week is dedicated to all things Academy Awards.
something to sip…
Over the years, there have been too many Academy Awards moments seared into our collective memory.
You won’t have time to read all the things that go through my head, but here are three that always make me feel something:
Halle Berry receives an Academy Award for her performance in “Monster Ball” at the 74th Annual Academy Awards on March 24, 2002.

Berry Acceptance speech Still thrills me after winning Best Actress in 2002 for her incredible performance in “Monster Ball”.
Not only did she look stunning — full disclosure: my dear friend, stylist Phillip Bloch, dressed her in that stunning Elie Saab gown — but she tearfully leaned on current history“This moment is so much bigger than me,” she said. “This moment belongs to Dorothy Dandridge, Lena Horn and Dahan Carroll.”
It’s touching, poignant, and long overdue.

This one didn’t just earn giggles.
During her tenure as host of the 2014 Oscars, DeGeneres Make Social Media Magic As she ran into the auditorium to pose for a photo with some of the biggest names in the room – and soon Tweet to the world.
It’s played for laughs, but it’s definitely a moment of pure joy too.
Producer Jordan Horowitz holds up the “Best Picture” winner card for “Moonlight” at the 89th Academy Awards on February 26, 2017, instead of the previously announced “La La Land”.
the infamous best picture mess
Who could forget the moment La La Land was announced as the best picture of 2017, only to be revealed minutes later The winner is actually “Moonlight”?
I was helping cover the awards show that night—let’s just say it was a wild ride for all of us. “La La Land” is ecstatic, followed by confusion about what happened, and then Cheers again to the crew of “Moonlight”.
Talk about a wave of emotions!
one thing to talk about…
Will Smith hits host Chris Rock at the 94th Annual Academy Awards on March 27, 2022.
Just like it’s impossible for me not to mention that “moonlight” moment, it’s impossible for you not to mention “hand.”
now everyone, Including Chris Rock, all have their say What I’ll add about last year’s events is that it brought the worst attention to the Oscars.
I have my own theories about the pain behind the slap and its aftermath, but it’s one I choose to keep to myself.Suffice it to say, I hope everyone gets involved — and that A crisis team was subsequently formed to deal with similar incidents There is nothing to do this year but sit back and enjoy the show.
you should listen…
Rihanna at the Fenty Beauty Event on February 11, 2022 in Los Angeles, CA.
Any song nominated this year will – and should! – would be a great addition to your Oscar party playlist, but if you’re looking for me, I’ll be crying in the corner Rihanna’s hit single ‘Lift Me Up’ from ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ soundtrack. (It was one of this year’s nominees in the Best Original Song category.)
she is Plan to perform at this year’s show Just thinking about it makes me crumble.
Can’t wait to see…
The podium ahead of the announcement of the nominations for the 95th Academy Awards on January 24, 2023 in Beverly Hills, California.
Naturally, that’s the part I’m talking about tuning in to the 95th Annual Academy Awards, live on ABC from the Dolby Theater in Hollywood starting Sunday night at 8:00pm EST/5:00pm PST.
