Armenia says 49 soldiers killed in clashes with Azerbaijan | World News

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said 49 Armenian servicemen were killed in the nighttime clashes with Azerbaijan, Interfax news agency reported.

Addressing the Armenian parliament, Pashinyan said that Baku had attacked Armenian positions overnight and fighting continued.

Both Armenia and Azerbaijan have accused each other of escalating hostilities, the latest in a dispute between the two countries amid decades of tension in the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region.
