Pryor Cashman Partner Kaveri Arora is a member of the firm’s Litigation, Intellectual Property and Media + Entertainment teams and is featured in Law.com’s “How I Became a Partner” series.

In the Q&A session “How I Became a Partner: ‘First, Take the Initiative,’ by Kaveri Arora of Pryor Cashman,” Kaveri discusses what drew her to Pryor Cashman, some of the challenges she has faced in her career, and more. She noted that, in addition to focusing on the importance of doing her best on the issues in front of her, she also considered the importance of bringing “a positive and level head to my litigation team, which is important to anyone who wants are important characteristics for lawyers or clients to come back to them in their next case.”

Kaveri also spoke about how becoming a mother has affected her career:

As a working mom of two young children, I had to learn to juggle the demanding work of being a parent and being a litigator. This involved a lot of trial and error, a lot of rushing from job to job, and a lot of help from my village. I have become more productive than I ever imagined!

While it was challenging, several colleagues told me that when I returned from maternity leave after having my first child, they also saw a transformation—a more confident, responsible, and fierce lawyer. Maybe it’s time, but I think being a mom also played a role in the transition. I came back with a genuine desire to make the most of each day. I strive every day to be a role model to my two daughters, to show them that it is possible to be a strong, career-oriented woman who loves and values her family unconditionally.
