October 27 (UPI) – Arsenal FC player Pablo Mari was one of several victims of a stabbing at a convenience store near Milan, Italy, on Thursday, authorities have confirmed.

One of the victims died and five others, including Mali, were taken to hospital.
Police arrest a 46-year-old man, still in custody.
Witnesses said the man grabbed the knife from the store shelf at around 5:30 p.m. local time and began attacking people. Authorities did not comment on potential motives.
Some customers reportedly stepped in to help subdue the man.
London-based Arsenal have confirmed that Mari is in hospital but not seriously injured, contradicting earlier reports that he was seriously injured.
“We were all shocked to hear the horrific news about the stabbing in Italy, which has left many hospitalized, including our loanee centre-back Pablo Mari,” The club said in a statement.
“We have been in contact with Pablo’s agent and he told us he is in hospital and not seriously injured. Our thoughts are with Pablo and the other victims of this horrific incident.”
Mari has been with Italian Serie A club Monza during his loan spell from Arsenal.
“Pablo Mari is not life-threatening because his injuries are not life-threatening. We hope to see him as soon as possible,” said Adriano Galliani, chief executive of the Italian club. told reporters Thursday night.
