Audition for GVSU to make ‘Gloria’
GVSU’s Drama Department is hosting auditions open to all GVSU students to produce “GloriaSeptember 26-28. Auditions will be held at the Haas Center for the Performing Arts and Room 1506 from 6-10pm
Shows on November 18th and 19th and December 1st, 2nd and 3rd at 7:30pm at the Keller Black Box Theater at the Center for the Performing Arts Additional performances on November 20th and December 4th Held at 2 p.m. in the afternoon
Group of Nature Artists at Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park
Frederik Meijer Garden and Sculpture Park will host control panel As part of the 2022 ArtPrize event, artists will participate in discussions around art and nature.
The group’s featured artists engage in critical discussions about land artists, landscape, environmental artists, and site-specific installations. This discussion focuses on their work in these areas and how parts of nature interact with art.
The event will take place on September 28th at the Huizenga Grand Room at Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park from 6-8pm.
Digital Lighting Art Exhibition
Studio Park in Downtown Grand Rapids will have their last show”fusion“September 28th at 8:30 pm
The show involves projections, light and sound projected on the buildings surrounding Studio Park. The performance aims to create an “immersive experience” through sound and sight.
This artwork was created by Caren Mueller and Christian Markwart. Mueller is the founder and creative director of Germany-based visual arts company LiCHTPiRATEN. Her work is site-specific and live performance assemblage projection art. Markwart is the company’s sound producer, specializing in creating music for live audiovisual performances.
The event is part of ArtPrize and is free to the public.
Motown Music by the Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra
The Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra will present a “pop concert” titled “Dancing on the Street: Motown MusicThe events will be held at the DeVos Performance Hall in downtown Grand Rapids on September 30 and October 1 from 7:30-9:30 pm.
The music highlights the work of 1960s Motown artists including Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson and more.
Participation fees range from $15 to $104, and tickets can be purchased online.
Ricky Montgomery Show
Ricky Montgomery Will perform at the Elevation in downtown Grand Rapids on September 29 as part of his tour called “The Overtime Tour.”
Montgomery was an alternative music artist best known for his songs “Mr. Lover” and “Line Without Hooks”. He will perform many other songs including “Cabo”, “Talk to You” and “Last Night”.
The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are available for advance purchase at the door for $20 and $25.
