The Fairmount Arts Center kicks off the 2022-23 season’s “Kickoff” series with “The Story of Genji: Wife, Demon, and Lover” at the center at 8400 Fairmount Road, Russell Township. Independent scholar Marjorie Williams will introduce Japanese literary classics, narrative and their importance in Japanese art.
Refreshments will be provided. Advance reservations for free lectures are recommended by calling 440-338-3171 or visiting fairmountcenter.org.
Call for Art Exhibition Works
Burton Public Library is looking for entries for the 2022 Burton Art Show, which will be held at Burton Public Library October 4-8. Admission is September 22nd, 9:30am-7:45pm; September 23rd, 9:30am-4:45pm; and September 24th, 10:30am-1:45pm
Artists 16 and older who live, work or attend school in Geuga, Lake or Portage counties are invited to submit their work to the library at 14588 W. Park St. in Burton.
The judges were Raymond Scott III in Art and 3-D Art and Callie Sour in Photography.
The entry fee is $10 each or $25 for three. Artists may submit up to three works.
Enrolment forms are available at all public libraries and online burtonlibrary.org.
