With a career-threatening back injury at the same venue against the same opponent four years ago, Hadik Pandya stretched out on the pitch, after leading India to a five-goal win over Pakistan in the Asian Cup opener. He felt a “sense of accomplishment”. dubai.

Hardik put in an all-around effort, first returning with a 3-for-25 stat, then leading India home with a 17-run unbeaten 33-run run last Sunday, four years later with a back injury that kept him out of the game. The game was nearly three years old.

“It’s nice to get this win because it’s very important for us. Our nerves are checked and we are challenged as a team. Love the way he (Ravindra Jadeja) comes out and plays,” Hardik said said in a video released by the BCCI.

“I recall being carried on a stretcher and being in the same dressing room. After all that, you feel a sense of accomplishment and you get a chance again today.” Hardik brings former Indian team physio Nitin Patel and current fitness His successful comeback is credited to coach Soham Desai, who is currently head of BCCI Sports Science.

“It was a beautiful journey, we got the results of the journey, but the people who worked with me behind the scenes were never given credit. So I always believed that the credit should go to the people who deserve it. Nitin Patel, Soham Desai, whatever I comeback, I would applaud them all,” the all-rounder said.

Hardik said he planned to play one game at a time and would “fantasy” about his chances even if India needed 15 points instead of the seven they scored in the final to win the game.

“In a chase like this, you always plan over and over again. I always knew there was a young bowler (Naseem Shah or Shahnawaz Dahani) and a left-arm spinner (Mohammad Nawaz).

“Last game we only needed seven, but even if we need 15, I fantasize about myself. I know the bowlers are under more pressure than me in the 20th. I try to keep it simple,” India Ranked said the first all-rounder.

“Seven runs doesn’t seem like a big deal to me. I’m least concerned with the left arm spinner (Mohammad Nawaz) and the five outfielders outside the circle because I have to hit the ball no matter the situation. The only time in a game I showed some emotion when you (Ravindra Juddja) came off the court,” he said in a free chat with Juddja posted on bcci.tv.

“I don’t have pressure in my heart. According to me, he (Nawaz) has more pressure. I just count on him to make a mistake. The better you handle the pressure, only you can execute it correctly.”

As far as bowling goes, Pandya knows he needs to mix short balls and induce errors from batsmen.

“In bowling, it’s important to assess the situation and use your weapons. For me, short bowling and hard bowling have always been my strengths. It’s about how to use them and ask the right questions to get the batsman guilty wrong,” he said.

Hardik and Jadeja shared a crucial 52 overs for the fifth wicket to bring India closer to goal before the latter left in the first ball of the final.

“I played with Jaddu (Jadeja) for 7-8 years. The Indian team has always been known for the top three and we are very grateful to have the opportunity and we were able to perform well,” he said.

“Our process is not just for this game, our process is for the World Cup. If this happens again, we will definitely remember this game and draw inspiration from it.”

Jadeja, who hit 29 balls with 35 offensive runs after advancing in batting order, called his Sunday game “very important.”

“It’s very important because when I get promoted in the bat, my idea is to play against the spinners as much as possible. I’m always looking for big shots. Our partnership is very important,” he said.

India will play another team in their group, Hong Kong, in Dubai on Wednesday.
