August 29, 2022 – Hussey Gay Bell received the ENR South East Award of Excellence in the Sports/Entertainment category at Enmarket Arena. Enmarket Arena represents nearly 20 years of effort to build a first-class, sustainable arena that provides the public with a flexible, accessible venue for sports and entertainment. Originally funded by the City of Savannah’s 2014 SPLOST 6 program, in 2019 the city selected the Perkins & Will team to design the 9,500-seat, 215,000-square-foot arena. The scale of the project also required the design and construction of various civil improvement projects – on-site and off-site utilities, upgrades to existing infrastructure, improved road systems, grading/drainage/erosion control of vertical facilities, including a 215,000 sq. ft. arena And 400 square feet – the space parking structure etc – will be delivered in tandem, which required huge design and phased construction coordination from Hussey Gay Bell, the lead civil engineering firm on the project. Selected impact improvements include design of 3,000+ LF utilities, widening of existing site canals, installation of 6,000+ LF 30 inch fusible PVC two site boundaries installed by horizontal directional drilling (HDD) at depths 100 feet below existing Slope and widening and modification of active roads.
