Avatar’s Way of Water Series Box Office Day 12: James Cameron’s Movie Passes $950M Worldwide, Will Overtake RRR as India’s Second Highest Grosser

The 2009 hit “Avatar” sequel “Avatar: The Way of Water” is the first choice of movie fans around the world.James Cameron’s director is not only making waves around the world, but also attracted Indian audiencesThe film also posted double-digit earnings on Tuesday after a strong run (Rs 1.2 crore) on its second Monday of release in the country. Globally, the film is breaking the $1 billion mark, one step closer to topping this year’s two hits, Top Gun ($1.48 billion) and Jurassic World ($1.001 billion).

In India on Tuesday, Avatar 2 grossed Rs 9-11 crore, according to Koimoi.com. With this, the movie’s gross is now around Rs 271-273 crore. The sci-fi thriller handily beat Avengers: Endgame (Rs 3,732.2 crore) to become India’s top-grossing Hollywood film as the holidays continued.

The long-awaited sequel has grossed $955.1 million worldwide so far, according to Box Office Mojo. And, if it continues to gain ground at the ticket counters, it could break the $1 billion mark by the end of the year.

Avatar: The Way of Water With its immersive visual effects to win the fans of all ages. Movies are being enjoyed on IMAX screens, and audiences are willing to pay a higher ticket price for the shocking screen experience. Imax CEO Rich Gelfond is pleased with the film’s global performance. He told Variety, “In just over a week in theaters, Avatar: Way of Water has grossed over $100 million at Imax and shows no sign of slowing down.”

However, given the drop in global temperatures and the growing awareness of coronavirus The film is once again taking the world by storm, and it could be a tough road to unseat its predecessor, Avatar, as the highest-grossing film of all time. The film has grossed $2.97 billion since its release in 2009.

Avatar: Way of Water, written by James Cameron with Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, has Jake Sully and Neytiri protect their children from the “Skyman”. To avoid any harm to his family, Jack found refuge with a semi-aquatic Ne’vi clan called the Metkayina and learned how to survive in the water.
