Avril Lavigne will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The 37-year-old pop-punk icon — who was behind a string of hits including “Sk8er Boi,” “Complicated” and “Girlfriend” — will be the 2,731st celebrity to receive sidewalk honors at 6212 Hollywood Blvd. .
The unveiling ceremony will take place on August 31.
Hall of Fame producer Anna Martinez commented: “It’s not complicated, Avril Lavigne is very worthy of this Walk of Fame star and we’re delighted to recognize her with this honor.
“Avril Lavigne’s fans have been bombing my phone asking when she’ll get her star. We’re happy to say, now is the time.”
Meanwhile, the Canadian star updated her progress on her film adaptation of the 2002 classic “Sk8er Boi.”
She told Nylon: “It’s just going to take a long time. I’m working on the storyline right now with the director and the writer. I’m really excited to make ‘Sk8er Boi’ into a movie. It’s what I want to do for a long time. .”
Avril Lavigne – who released her seventh studio album “Love Sux” in February – believes the key to her longevity is her authenticity.
She explained: “It means a lot to me now because the songs have stood the test of time. But I think I’m honest, I’m really sincere. I wrote these songs. They come from my perspective and outlook on life. . At that time I was like, oh my god, like a teenager, what am I going through. Now, like my new album Love Sux’, it’s like it’s evolved.
“I steered here and there. On my last album, ‘Head Above Water,’ it was darker and more introspective and emotional. And then this song, ‘Love Sux’ came back, like All-out, swinging, loud guitar, live drums. I feel like this album is who I am, and I have a different side.”
