Back to school in the UAE: smooth traffic on the first day, some delays reported-News

[ad_1]

According to traffic regulators and real-time traffic reports on Google Maps, as thousands of students return to campus on Sunday, traffic reports in the UAE are unhindered.

Although the Sharjah-Dubai E11 Al Ittihad highway and Mohammed bin Zayed E311 highway witnessed usual morning congestion, the road traffic in the inner school district is smooth.

Slow traffic on E311 stretches from Sharjah Industrial Zone to Rashidiya in Dubai.

Roads around the school district in Dubai’s Al Gharoud area also experienced slight congestion.

According to Dubai police, an accident occurred on the canal bridge on Sheikh Zayed Road in the direction of the World Trade Center at 10 am, causing traffic delays. Commuters are advised to be extra careful.

Slow traffic has also caused delays for commuters in the Al Gharb district of Sharjah. From 7 am to 10 am, the intersection of the industrial zone and Al Qusais was also crowded with people.

The operator of the community Twitter account @trafficdxb, Javed Khamisani, said: “The traffic on Sundays is not as dense as the usual standards. Except for a few key school districts, other places are smooth. In addition, they use school buses and send children to school. For parents, the situation is mixed.”

He added: “As usual, the E311 Sharjah-Dubai highway is congested. The road to Academic City is also very congested.”

Khamisani pointed out that the school districts in Barsha South, Garhoud and Hessa Street were also crowded this morning.

“I think that after October 3, when all students return to campus, the traffic situation will return to the level before the pandemic. After the start of the 2020 World Expo, I think the traffic situation will be more tense, especially in the second half of the day. Say.

Khamisani said that special school bus lines can be used, especially in old Dubai areas such as Bur Dubai and Kalama, to ease congestion. “However, in specialized school districts, the road to the school is very narrow. Using dedicated lanes means more congestion.”

He also predicted that as the country opens up to visiting visa holders, the overall traffic situation in Dubai should intensify in the next few days.

Brigadier General Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director of Transport, Dubai Police said: “We have successfully reduced the number of road-related deaths per 100,000 people. However, it is very important that we continue to maintain safety awareness, especially in our dear ones. During the school year during which the student was transported.”
