Bailey is reportedly in hospice care at the hospital.
The 82-year-old football icon has been undergoing chemotherapy since September 2021 and is said to no longer respond to treatment as he battles bowel cancer.
He was taken to hospital on Tuesday, and Folha of Sao Paulo said he would no longer undergo invasive tests or treatment.
Bailey’s most recent hospital admission was said to be due to general swelling and heart failure.
But the latest news about his daughter Kylie reassures fans that there is “no reason to panic”.
The hospital said his condition was “stable”, and doctors added that Bailey would remain in the hospital for treatment in the coming days.
On Friday (December 2, 2022), he announced to his 10.6 million followers on Instagram: “My friends, I’m on my monthly hospital visit. It’s always nice to receive positive messages like this.
“Thank you Qatar for this tribute, and thank you to everyone who has brought me good feelings!”
The latest Folha report states that his chemotherapy is now on hold at the Israelita Albert Einstein Hospital in São Paulo, but Bailey continues to receive pain medication.
Qatar lit up a building for the three-time World Cup winner, widely regarded as one of football’s greatest, with “Get well soon” signs, while his Brazilian fans expressed their gratitude for Friday’s World Cup match against Cameroon. For their support, unfurled banners and tifos sent Pele best wishes.
He had a colon tumor removed last year in 2021 but was told this year the cancer had spread to his bowel, lungs and liver.
Bailey had prostate surgery in 2015 and suffered another urinary infection in 2019, and is suffering the long-term effects of a hip prosthesis and has limited mobility due to knee problems.
During his illustrious career between 1957 and 1977, Pele scored 757 goals in 831 appearances, but Santos claim his tally is closer to 1,000.
