Bangladesh will play UAE in two T20I matches and have training camp in Dubai

[ad_1]

Bangladesh travel to Dubai next week to play two T20I matches against the UAE and complete a training camp interrupted by rain in Dhaka. Only one day of training was possible in the past week as heavy rains battered the capital and other parts of the country.

BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury said the camp in Dubai will take place from September 22 to 27, with two T20Is scheduled for September 25 to 27. The team will then return to Dhaka for a few days before flying to New Zealand for the T20I’s three-game winning streak against the hosts and Pakistan in early October. All this will prepare for the T20 World Cup, which kicks off in Australia in mid-October.

“The team couldn’t prepare well here because of the weather,” Chowdhury said. “So we have decided to send the team to the UAE for a preparatory training camp, which includes two T20Is against the UAE. We have contacted the Emirates Cricket Council. We can use the facilities at Dubai Sports City or elsewhere there, our Team management thinks it helps us. Not much is happening here due to the weather. We plan to be there from September 22 to 28. We will return to Dhaka and then to New Zealand.”

Chowdhury said team management will decide whether to recall captain Shakib Al Hasan from the CPL for training camp.

“A trip to Dubai only takes three or four hours [to from Dhaka]. We focus on the facilities we will get there. Not only did we get a great training camp, but we had a couple of extra games in our preparations. The alternates announced alongside the World Cup squad will also travel to the UAE.

“The team management will decide if they need Shakib’s training camp in the UAE. We have given him a NOC in the domestic league.”
