Barbados rolls out the welcome carpet for visitors from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
A diplomatic presence in the UAE was recently established, and representatives from the country, including the first ambassador to the UAE, Gabriel Abed, and Invest Barbados CEO Kaye-Anne Brathwaite, recently attended the opening ceremony of Expo 2020 Dubai, which The opening ceremony will be held from October 1st to March 31st of the following year.
In his message to the people of the UAE, Abed said his home country is a place that welcomes people who are passionate about work and play.
“Barbados is one of the most beautiful countries in the world, our people are very friendly and hospitable and our coast is made up of clear blue waters and white sandy beaches. This is one of the most ideal places to come for vacation and relaxation, but It is also a work environment that is more than just entertainment,” he said in a message to potential tourists from the Middle East.
“Barbados is known for its culture, sports, music, entertainment and lifestyle. Barbados is an ideal place for Emiratis to visit because of its familiar environment, year-round warm weather, beautiful beaches and very friendly people. Come visit us in Barbados.”
Invest in Barbados officials said the Dubai Expo provided a “unique opportunity” for Barbados to connect with the UAE, “while also providing the opportunity to interact with the rest of the world in one location, showcasing who we are, who we want to be and what we want to be. Our journey to get there”.
The fair’s Barbados pavilion is themed around innovation and transformation…from sugar cane to blockchain, reflecting “the country’s global reach and interests, showcasing its heritage of innovation, agricultural history, through rum and other exports, tourism, of culture and movement”.
It also showcases “a vision for a future full of sustainable and digital technologies,” Invest Barbados said.
Brathwaite said Barbados’ participation provided an opportunity for “Barbados to build partnerships while strengthening our relationships with multiple countries”. (SC)
