Bayanat for Mapping and Surveying Service is a fast-growing geospatial, data analysis and artificial intelligence company headquartered in the UAE. Today, at the Smart City Summit in Abu Dhabi, it launched a new fleet of autonomous vehicles called TXAI. It is the first fully automated taxi in the UAE.
In March 2021, Abu Dhabi’s Ministry of Municipalities and Transportation teamed up with Bayanat (a G42 company) to lead the development and application of autonomous vehicles.The partnership supports the innovation of intelligent transportation and is a step towards the development of innovative mobile solutions
Bayanat is ready to launch the first set of self-driving cars as a ride-sharing service in November 2021. In the first phase, there will be five TXAI brand vehicles operating on Yas Island, transporting passengers between nine stations, including hotels, restaurants, shopping centers and offices. The second phase will include more TXAI vehicles in multiple locations in Abu Dhabi. Although the vehicle is unmanned, the safety officer will be in the driver’s seat during the test phase.
Although the initial stage will only focus on ride-hailing services, Bayanat focuses on building a technology ecosystem with multiple applications in the near future. This is the first L4 level autonomous driving test in the entire Middle East and North Africa. Bayanat has developed a simulation system, operating system, big data platform and monitoring system with an accuracy of less than one meter based on cutting-edge autonomous driving algorithms.
His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, stated that the UAE government is keen to develop the field of smart mobility and strengthen its applications in the UAE, aiming to promote the lives of people and its members of society. He referred to the decision passed by the UAE Cabinet led by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to start testing autonomous vehicles on the roads, which will promote The future transportation sector of the UAE.
His Excellency Omar Sultan Al OramaPraise the Abu Dhabi Ministry of Municipality and Transport and its partners for the initiative, which is an important milestone in supporting the UAE to ensure the efficient and safe operation of this technology. Finally, he wished all stakeholders success in the unremitting efforts of the UAE to develop a sustainable transportation sector.
His Excellency Falah Al Ahbabi, Chairman of the Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport (DMT) said:“This project is one of the bold regional steps to adopt accurate data-driven artificial intelligence technology in the transportation network. This is part of DMT and the Integrated Transportation Center’s efforts to provide innovative services that help improve the quality of life in the emirate. Adopt all smart and modern technologies in all important sectors that serve the community to consolidate its position as one of the best destinations for life, work and investment on a global scale.”
He added: “In addition to overseeing operations to ensure that the most advanced services are provided in a safe and unique manner, DMT has been working with its partners in Bayanat and Miral to test the safety of vehicles and ensure compliance with UAE traffic laws and Regulations.”
