Beauty queen candidate dazzles Dubai in Miss Continental Europe competition

[ad_1]

DUBAI: The gleaming city of Dubai staged a beauty and fashion show at the glamorous Palazzo Versace hotel on Wednesday as part of the Miss Continental competition.

In the competition in Dubai, 19 entrants from across Europe – from the UK, Russia, Germany and more – were eliminated to three finalists who will go on to compete in Spoleto, Italy with 30 others from across Europe competition. The sparkling finale will take place on November 25.

The Dubai competition kicked off with a stunning dance performance by light dancers and was divided into four parts as women took to the stage in a variety of costumes.

Judges included high-end Lebanese designer Nicolas Jebran, beauty entrepreneur Joelle Mardinian and last year’s lucky winner, Russia’s Anna Semenkova.

The 26-year-old flew into Dubai fresh from her whirlwind modeling tour of Europe, which she began shortly after winning, and when asked what advice she would give the next winner, she said they should have a A sense of purpose to “show that people think you can be beautiful and strong, smart and intelligent.”

Beauty stars hit the stage in an assortment of black evening gowns, complete with sparkling jewellery, perfectly curled hair and Hollywood-esque make-up.

The contestants then graced the fashion show in colorful jalabeyas, typical Emirati attire. Draped in gold, the women sparkled in the spotlight, wowing the crowd in flowy dresses in shades of red, green and cream.

After taking to the stage in colorful evening gowns, the eight semi-finalists engaged in a question-and-answer session. The final three contestants are then selected to travel to Italy.

In November, beauty pageant candidates will compete for the chance to win the crown of Miss Continental Europe, this year’s crown will be crowned with a bejeweled heart, and the final will be broadcast on fashion television around the world.

At a press conference in September, the pageant’s owner and promoter Alberto Cerqua explained why he chose Dubai as the first non-European city to host the event.

“Our main goal is to create a strong link between Italian fashion and Emirati fashion,” he said through a translator.

“We love women who love fashion, especially ‘Made in Italy’ fashion… Our goal is to find beautiful women who can bridge cultural divides and find people who love fashion.”

Organizers say the pageant is a platform for European women to showcase their artistic skills, intelligence, self-confidence, cultural pride and leadership to further advance themselves in the European fashion, film and beauty industries.
