Dubai: On the 25th anniversary of its Broadway debut, The Lion King, the stage musical, will make its Middle East debut in Abu Dhabi on November 16, offering audiences from across the region a rare opportunity to see the award-winning production up close and personal. Individuals in the UAE capital.

The feature-length adaptation of Disney’s wildly popular 1994 animated film follows the coming-of-age story of young lion prince Simba, who is forced to mature rapidly after the death of his father and who is forced to reclaim his birthright.

“I’m very excited to bring this show to Abu Dhabi, an original production that has been on Broadway for over 20 years and has been seen on stages in the West End, Australia, Hamburg, Japan, and so on around the world. In many theater markets, we will present to local audiences for the first time the extraordinary theatrical vision of director Julie Taymor. It is truly a landmark work,” Michael Cassel, CEO of Michael Cassel Group, told Arab News The group was the theatrical producers leading the four-week run of The Lion King at the Etihad Arena, said Shi.

“Audiences will be absolutely in for a treat because it’s the best theater. Julie Taymor was the original director of the production and the first female director to win a Tony Award for Best Director of a Musical — — the way she imagined and the world she created, because she brought the African savannah to life in the theater, was simply extraordinary,” he added.

More than 100 people in front of and behind the scenes will bring the show to Abu Dhabi. “We have performers from all over the world, and they’re all in the company of ‘The Lion King.'” It’s very rare for a company to be truly international. We have a lot of actors from South Africa, which is very important to ensure the authenticity of the performance, and of course the music written by Lebo M.,” Cassel said.

Of course, the stage musical’s popularity is also thanks to the original film’s stellar score, composed by Sir Elton John and Tim Rice and featuring South African producer-composer Lebo M.

Cassel further elaborated on how Lebo M. was brought into the show, saying, “The soundtrack for stage productions came about when Tom Schumacher was the producer of The Lion King and president of Disney Theaters. While discussing directing the film with Julie Taymor at the time, he shared with Julie an album released after the film’s initial release, titled “Rhythms of Pride” ( Rhythm of the Pride Lands), which includes all the African music composed by Lebo M. for the film inspired by The Lion King.

“When Julie heard that song, she had a great idea that the music — like a Broadway show needs to be — needed to be expanded, so LeBeau and Julie and Elton John and Tie Jim Rice, bringing in some of his music for the stage production. And, really, that’s the heart of the show now.

“The music is unique in representing the sounds of Africa — the rhythms, and as I said, you know, it has hits that people might know and love from the movies, like ‘Circle of Life’ or ‘Can You Feel Today? Late love?”, followed by haunting new songs written for the stage, such as “Shadowland” and one of my favorites, “He Lives Inside You,” he added.

The Lion King will be held at the Etihad Stadium in Abu Dhabi from November 16th to December 10th.
