NAIP Director Dmitry Krasovsky briefed the ambassador on the agency’s main activities and the commercial potential of various sectors of the Belarusian economy. He also talked about ways to assist foreign companies to invest in projects in Belarus.
The National Investment and Privatisation Agency already has experience in successfully interacting with UAE partners. In November 2021, as part of Expo 2020 Dubai, the NAIP team hosted the Belarusian Investment Forum, which brought together more than 100 representatives of large and medium-sized enterprises from the Persian Gulf region. “We hope today’s meeting is a great opportunity not only to continue our interaction with Emirati businesses, but to take it to the next level,” stressed Dmitry Krasovsky.
During the dialogue, the two sides identified some priority areas for possible cooperation: the food and information technology industries, with a focus on green technology and food safety. “In the UAE, food supply is no longer a business, but a national strategy,” said the head of the UAE’s diplomatic corps.
Participants talked about strategies to promote Belarus as a country with an investment climate favorable for foreign businesses. Ambassador Ibrahim Salim Mohamed Musharrah pointed out that the agency plays a key role in this matter and that it is extremely important to choose the right strategy for the work. According to the ambassador, the idea of promoting investment opportunities in Belarus as a “hidden gem” is entirely in line with his personal feelings.
