Bentley Motors presents the Bentley Mulliner Batur – a new limited edition two-door luxury touring coupe that embodies the beginning of a Bentley design revolution.
Created by design director Andreas Mindt and his team, Batur showcases a new design DNA that will ultimately guide the design of Bentley’s future range of battery electric vehicles (BEVs).
The collection of just 18 series examples of Batur is the latest project from Mulliner, Bentley’s in-house bespoke and bodybuilding division, and succeeds Bacalar, which re-launched bodybuilding at Bentley. Like Bacalar, Batur is named after a beautiful natural body of water.
The Batur will also be the most powerful Bentley yet, with a 740+ PS version of the iconic hand-assembled 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged W12 engine that has provided the metaphor and real power behind Bentley’s success over the past two decades . Engine performance will be matched by the most advanced Bentley chassis ever, with speed-adjusted air suspension, electric active anti-roll control, eLSD, four-wheel steering and torque vectoring.
All 18 examples of Batur have been preserved.
The next extraordinary Mulliner project
Mulliner’s in-house design team will build each Batur with its customers, working together for hours through a specially designed Mulliner visualizer that allows any part of the car to be customized in color and surface finish.
Appearance Details
Aside from the exterior form of the car, the future owner of each car has an almost endless number of choices. The paint choices are virtually limitless – starting with the full Mulliner palette, to fully custom paints and even hand-painted graphics, while the highlights can be any light and dark, satin or glossy or even titanium mix.
The exterior paint on this release of the Batur is a custom colour – Bonneville Pearlescent Silver – and the bodywork is accentuated by a carbon fibre front splitter, side skirts and a rear diffuser painted in Black Crystal.
The Batur is mounted on unique 22-inch wheels, the “standard” option is painted in black crystal, then the finish is machined and polished.
Beautifully Customizable Cottages
Batur’s two-seater interior is designed for the ultimate in personalization and long-distance grand tours.
The range of veneers available for the dashboard includes a new material from Bentley – natural fibre composite, available as a 2×2 twill weave satin finish, a sustainable alternative to carbon fibre. Then, the passenger instrument panel is adorned with a unique W12 engine audio signature etching – custom etchings are also available.
The Batur interior on this launch is hand-trimmed in a stunning combination of black, red and orange – in particular, Beluga leather contrasted with Hotspur and sustainable low CO2 Mulliner Hyperactive Orange leather.
The dash, dash and door finishes are painted gloss black with a “guitar fade” to Fine Brodgar that flows from the dash to the doors and back to black. The instrument panel is adorned with unique artwork – laser-etched sound waves that represent the unique sound produced by the W12 engine.
Powerful W12
The Batur is equipped with the most powerful engine ever installed on a Bentley. The 6.0-litre W12 kicked off Bentley’s rebirth with the Continental GT in 2002 and has since gone through many design iterations to become the world’s most advanced 12-cylinder engine.
For Batur, a new intake system, upgraded turbocharger, new intercooler and extensive recalibration of over 740 PS and 1,000 Nm of torque give this new pinnacle Grand Tourer exceptional performance. Over its 20-year development, the engine now produces nearly 40 percent more power while improving fuel economy by 25 percent. Batur’s W12 is paired with Bentley’s eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and sports exhaust to deliver a soundtrack consistent with performance levels.
Matching Chassis
As the most powerful and exclusive Bentley coupe to date, the Batur will also be the most dynamic. The adaptive triple-chamber air springs each have three switchable chambers that change the volume of the air spring and thus its effective stiffness. Drivers can choose a balance between ride comfort and body control via four-mode Drive Dynamics Control in the center console, choosing between Sport, Bentley, Comfort and Custom, which also changes the 48V electric active anti-roll control system behavior, delivering up to 1,300 Nm of anti-roll torque in 0.3 seconds, or completely disengaging the wheels at each axle end. – arab trade news agency
