MANILA, Philippines – Filipino racing driver Bianca Bustamante climbed to the United Arab Emirates F4 Championship on Wednesday after finishing in the top 10 at the third round of the season at Kuwait Motor City, Kuwait board of directors.

Bustamante, led by Italian team Prema Racing, finished 10th in the race with a time of 25:54.959, more than 8 seconds ahead of race winner Tuukka Taponen of Mumbai Falcons Racing Limited.

The 18-year-old scored her first points in the F4 championship by starting P8 on a grid of 38 cars.

Although the Filipino rider failed to crack the top 10 in Race 3, she put in a solid performance as she fought back from 26th to finish 15th, ending hostilities in Kuwait.

Bustamante, who also competes in the W Series of the top women’s racing championship, took to social media shortly after the race to share her delight at the result.

“It’s been a tough fight from P8 in the second game. Will finish for sure [P]10 We need to keep the real speed and fight so close to the 38 cars on the grid! In the end, we managed to hang on and make me feel confident for Game 3! ’ wrote Bustamante.

“Race 3 was one of the best races I’ve ever been in, pure enjoyment of the car and driving. Bad luck in qualifying, we started on P26 and I know it’s going to be difficult to get into the top 20 again Yes. But with the pace we had and the confidence to make the move, we took 11 places and finished P15!” she added.

With the points earned in Kuwait, the rookie is now 25th out of 40 other drivers.

Bustamante’s next race in F4 UAE is Round 4 at the Dubai Autodrome on February 11-12.
