The White House stated that virtual events will allow world leaders to “talk honestly about the challenges facing democracy.”

The White House stated that US President Joe Biden will hold a virtual “democracy summit” from December 9th to 10th.

The White House said in its announcement on Wednesday that the summit’s invitees will include heads of state, members of civil society, philanthropists and representatives of the private sector.

The summit will “be an opportunity for world leaders to listen to each other and the opinions of their citizens, share successes, promote international cooperation, and talk frankly about the challenges facing democracy in order to jointly strengthen the foundation for democratic rejuvenation.” House said in a statement.

The summit will focus on three major themes: “opposing authoritarianism, fighting corruption, and promoting respect for human rights.”

The Biden administration plans to host a second World Leaders Summit one year after the first World Leaders Summit to “show the progress made in fulfilling promises.”

The White House did not specify the list of countries invited to participate in the summit. Some people think this is an alternative to the G20 forum and an implicit challenge to Beijing.

The membership of the G20 is determined by economic weight, including the authoritarian governments of China and Saudi Arabia. The team will meet in Italy next time at the end of October.

According to a White House statement on Wednesday, Biden said, “The challenge of our time is to prove that democracies can achieve their goals by improving the lives of their own people and solving the biggest problems facing the wider world.”

The President of the United States has Signal repeatedly He hopes to once again assume the role of “leader of the free world” traditionally assigned to the occupants of the White House. In contrast, his predecessor, Donald Trump, emphasized the “America First” approach to world affairs.
