Finally, SeaWorld Abu Dhabi will open to the public on Tuesday. The Next Generation Sea Life theme park, the largest in the region, is the latest addition to the exquisite mega-attraction on Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island, a vibrant global tourism destination.

Thomas James Kaferle, General Manager of SeaWorld Abu Dhabi, briefed Khaleej Times on the key elements and immersive experiences visitors can enjoy, as well as details on tickets.

The park covers an area of 183,000 square meters, divided into eight areas, and is home to more than 100,000 marine animals. From Abu Dhabi Ocean to what was once Ocean – the park’s hub-and-spoke model takes visitors to other realms: Micro Ocean, Endless Ocean, Tropical Ocean, Rocky Point, Polar Ocean and Arctic and Antarctica (the latter not yet open).

Overall, there are more than 15 interactive experiences and rides, 100 animal experiences and displays, including more than 10 up-close animal encounters, and 20 live-action characters and performances. In addition, there are 18 dining experiences above and below water, and 13 shopping experiences.

“We try to stay true to the regions…the regions. Like in the Kingdom of Abu Dhabi region, we have fish that are native to the Gulf. We have turtles, dugongs and sea snakes. So, everything is very themed. You immerse yourself in the land and in the field. We’re really excited for our guests to come in and see it,” Kaferle said.

The Endless Ocean Domain is the largest and most expansive multi-species marine life aquarium in the world, housing more than 68,000 animals in 25 million liters of water. It is home to a variety of marine animals including sharks, rays, schools of fish large and small, mantis shrimp, octopus, cuttlefish, coral squid, crabs, lobsters, eels and many more. After a short stay at the circular observation deck, don’t forget to check out the whirlpool, the ocean walk through the acrylic tunnel, the sweeping vistas and the tall vertical windows that offer stunning views of the habitat 20 meters deep.

“We have the largest aquarium mixed-species habitat in the world. It’s incredible,” Kaferle points out.

Tropical Seas presents a spectacular dolphin show in a 2,000-seat tropical amphitheater. The area is also home to “Flamingo Point,” one of the only naturally lit areas in the park, with tropical birds and about 24 dolphins.

“The swimming pool at the front is for displaying dolphins. It’s 11 meters deep. It goes all the way to the ground. We’re on the third level. So, it’s incredible. There’s an aviary with 300 different types of birds ,” Kaferle said.

Meanwhile, at Rocky Point, two California sea lions will be on display, and you’ll see these playful and friendly animals put on a show that will captivate all ages. The shows also feature engaging, interactive sessions where staff work with guests to raise awareness of environmental protection and sustainable practices.

One Ocean is home to the Animal Care Center, which, according to Kaferle, is the “heartbeat” of the park. Guests can peek into the area behind the hotel and get up close and personal with animal ambassadors. They can watch animal care specialists conduct routine health checks and provide medical care if necessary.

“Our guests can actually see everything that’s going on in our care center. So if we treat animals, they can see through the glass and interact with the educators on site. Talk to the veterinary team, technicians, etc.,” Kaferle said.

Set in a tropical ocean, the Manta Coaster is one of the most thrilling experiences in the park. Guests will dive and soar through the ocean, exploring coral reefs and shipwrecks with a squadron of manta rays.

The ride features the world’s first zero-g flip, the world’s first twisted tandem dive, and features 17 flight hours, the most in the region.

The story is shown on screens in 360-degree format measuring 218 meters long by 15 meters high, including spatial audio and a fleet of choreographed drones circling the field with high-resolution footage.

In line with Abu Dhabi’s sustainable development strategy, solar photovoltaic systems will be installed on the roofs of the entire park, including the car park. “We will have solar panels on the roof. We will also put them in our parking lot. So we will use solar power throughout…the entire roof area should have solar panels,” emphasizes Kaferle, pointing out, The park employs a variety of environmentally friendly and innovative solutions throughout the park.

The water used by the habitat comes from Abu Dhabi waters. It is processed before use in the park. “We bring it from the sea into the building. Then it’s processed. Then it goes into our animal habitat. When we replace it, after we’ve gone through our daily use, we replenish it, it comes from the other side of the building. out, and back into the sea. All of Abu Dhabi’s water comes from the sea and flows back into the sea,” Kaferle points out.

The park’s functionality is achieved through the coordination and hard work of around 1,000 employees, including Emiratis, who will assist visitors throughout the park.

“We have 1,000 direct employees who work with us and they help us get this done. We have about 350 animal care specialists, an education team and a diving team. It takes a lot of people to put it together. We also have several There are Emiratis. Some are educators, operations staff, guest services teams, etc. They are spread throughout the park,” said Kaferle, who joined the park in 2017.
