philanthropist bill gates U.S. environment envoy John Kerry will join UAE climate change advocates on Thursday in a high-level event in Abu Dhabi calling for a greener global future.
A panel of experts comprising Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Special Envoy for Climate Change, Sheikha Sharma Bint SultanMohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, founder and CEO of the Global Alliance for Sustainability and CEO of Masdar, will deliver key messages on how the UAE can embrace a more sustainable future.

The countdown to Cop27 was held at the Jumeirah Hotel at Saadiyat Island Resort and was hosted by economist Hundreds of policymakers also attended the event in London on Tuesday.
The talks will be held virtually and face-to-face and will focus on the UAE’s efforts to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
Speakers will explore how the economy can benefit from a green drive, how to measure success and what steps governments, businesses and individuals still have to take to achieve long-term ecological goals.
Other speakers on Thursday will include Microsoft Middle East Chief Sustainability Officer Sherif Tawfik and Securities and Commodities Authority CEO Maryam Buti Al Suwaidi.
Mr Gates will take part in an online discussion on the UAE’s achievement of net-zero emissions by 2050 and the wider role the Middle East can play in promoting sustainable development.
Mr. Al Jaber will speak on the UAE’s environmental agenda and how the country is investing heavily in clean energy to achieve its goals.
The US President’s Special Envoy for Climate, Mr. Kerry, will speak about his country’s efforts to address the world’s most pressing environmental challenges.
Middle East takes center stage in fight against climate change
The 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference (Cop27) will be held in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, from November 6 to 18.
The UAE will host the Cop28 Summit at Dubai Expo City in 2023.
Sheikh Abdullah bin ZayedThe Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said last month that the UAE would adopt an “ambitious, inclusive and solutions-oriented approach” when hosting the conference next year.
“The UAE will use its experience as a trusted global convener to ensure that the Cop28 UAE reflects the voices of all relevant stakeholders to achieve a global consensus on real climate progress,” Sheikh Abdullah, President of the United Arab Emirates (Sheikh Abdullah) said. Cop28 High Commission.
“The UAE will also leverage its track record as a cleantech innovator to deliver solutions for truly sustainable development, maximizing social and economic benefits for all.”
Sheikh Abdullah said the UAE will work closely with Egypt to support the momentum for greater climate progress.
The UAE delegation to Cop27 will study what is being discussed in Egypt to better understand the different priorities of the international community.
Topics on the November agenda include efforts to mitigate climate change, adapt to climate impacts, the need for increased climate finance, and identifying loss and damage from environmental factors.
