Billie Piper claims fame is “toxic” and “depressing”.
The 40-year-old actress – who rose to fame at 15 – admits that most of her happiest memories come from before she became famous.
She told the Guardian: “Fame is horrible. It’s disgusting. It’s such a dark thing. It changes your everyday experience in a depressing way, frankly, in my experience. When I imagine some of my happiest, and also my freest, times, mostly before fame.
“Don’t look down on my kids! Obviously, I’ve had very meaningful experiences with my kids and they’ve made me happier than anything, that’s true, but I also cherish the memories of not being famous.
“If you’re treated well, it’s disproportionate. If you’re treated badly, it’s disproportionate. Very few people can be normal around it, or normal around you. It creates a Very twisted world. I like what I like to do professionally, but I also like not to get too close to the gloss of it.”
Billie also revealed that she plans to act less in the future to stay out of the public eye.
She said: “Yeah. It’s annoying because I love creating stuff. I love making things. As I get older, I like making things from scratch more and more, and I think maybe in the future, I’ll be acting less and less. .I like what I do.
“But I’m tired of all this bullshit. Honestly, I’ve had it since I was 19. It’s been toxic from a very young age. Now I’m grateful that I had those experiences a long time ago, and now I can almost fully focus for work, not fucking.”
