With support from the Ghanaian government, the West African country hosted major entertainment events such as David Chapelle, Chance the Rapper, Vic Mensa, Erykah Badu, T-Pain, Jeremih and some of the biggest local entertainers such as Sarkodie, Asakaa Boys den M. anifest.

According to organizers, the festival for the historic Black Star Plaza will help build bridges between Black people and the artists of The Diaspora with The Continent.

Ghana dey wants to say the festival helps connect black foreign entertainers with local acts and helps build the music industry.

Over the years, Garner has repositioned its image with government backing, with an ambitious plan for black entertainers.

Major black entertainers, Boris Cudjo, Steve Harvey, Gabrielle Union, Dwayne Wade, Chance the Rapper and many more Hollywood stars have visited Ghana in the past few years .

Just last December, American rapper Meek Mill came to the West African state for Christmas, promising to try more.

Through music festivals, homecoming events, tours and social events missed by entertainment giants like Nigeria.

The Nigerian bin hosted foreign artists such as Craig David at the di Rhythm Unplugged festival and rapper Da Baby at the di Wonderland event in December.

Although Grammy winner Burna Boy performed dis for Nigeria, Burna Boy also performed for Ghana ahead of Nigeria on December 30.

Nigerian superstars Rema and Ayra Starr also performed for Nigeria and Ghana as well as Black Sherif in odas.

So we will still see weda dis kain events like Black Star Line diverting cans to support entertainment in Ghana.

What is the year of return?

The year of return, 2019, is associated with the 400th anniversary of American slaves on the land – the recorded arrival of enslaved Africans in the United States.

Ghana is a major transit point for slave shipments, so the president said he felt the country had a duty to welcome all those who were unfit to trace African ancestry.

“We believe we have a duty to extend a welcoming hand to the African diaspora.” President Nana Akufo-Adotoko.

How many more people are visiting Ghana?

In early 2019, the Ghana Tourism Board predicted that the return year would attract 500,000 additional tourists.

Official figures from January to September 2019 showed 237,000 new tourists – a 45% increase on the same period last year – with more visitors coming from the US and UK.

However, we don’t know if this is an initiative specifically for the Homecoming Year, as they do not require tourists to state the reason for their visit upon arrival.

Arrivals increased in 2019, totaling between 900,000 and 1 million Ghanaian foreign tourists per year, a number that has been going up anyway for the past few years, except say a slight decrease around 2018.

When they release the de data for the full year 2019, we can see how unusual the de growth was compared to previous years.
