Abu Dhabi: BLAST and AD Gaming – a pioneering gaming and esports program, reaffirmed the importance of their partnership and how the 2022 BLAST Premier World Finals in Abu Dhabi will help support Abu Dhabi and Developments in the gaming and esports scene in the Middle East.
The Etihad Arena on Yas Island opens to the public this weekend (December 17-18), the most high-profile global event to be held in the UAE capital following the three-year partnership between BLAST and AD Gaming Electronic sports championship.
The event, which kicked off Wednesday, brings together eight of the world’s best esports organizations for the Counter-Strike Championship, with a combined prize pool of $1 million.
In a video ahead of this weekend’s event, Sultan Al Riyami, Head of Esports and Games at AD Gaming, and Charlotte Kenny, Managing Director of BLAST Premier, talk about the popularity of gaming and esports and their shared ambition to help the industry grow in the UAE and the Middle East.
Sultan Al Riyami said: “One of the things we’ve learned in Abu Dhabi is working with the right stakeholders to help the game development part and the esports part really thrive.
“We are delighted to be partnering with BLAST as they have managed to pull off incredible esports productions time and time again. Whether it was in Copenhagen or Portugal and now in Abu Dhabi. We are really excited to see this It all came to fruition, and the next few days of Counter-Strike are really exciting.”
Charlotte Kenny said: “The Middle East and the GCC have been growing their esports scene very quickly and we’ve really focused on growing the community and building this great partnership and the great work that AD Gaming has been doing. Abu Dhabi has a thriving community, can’t wait to showcase our world events at the Etihad Arena.”
Tickets are still available for the event, which will also include a BLAST gaming area with plenty of activities for all fans to enjoy.
Kenny added: “I’m really excited and happy about what we have planned for this weekend. People describe it as a rock concert. It’s everything. You can expect fireworks, you can expect education, you can expect a games area. This It is an event not to be missed.”
