Singer Patti LaBelle hastily left the stage for two songs at a Christmas concert in Milwaukee, US, after a bomb threat forced authorities to evacuate the theater.
Video from the Riverside Theater on Saturday night showed Labelle, 78, chatting with an audience member when what appeared to be two security guards interrupted her.
They kicked her off the stage. Shortly after, it was announced that the nearly full 2,500-seat venue had to be evacuated due to a bomb threat.
Catherine Brunson, who documented the evacuation on Facebook Live, told the newspaper that the evacuation happened around 9:24 p.m. and two songs were played at LaBelle’s concert.
“We came out and the police taped the block … a lot of people were upset … it was scary,” Brunson said.
Scott Pierce, who was also at the concert, said everyone left the theater peacefully but “it’s sad that someone did that”.
Milwaukee Police Chief Warren Allen Jr. said in a statement that the theater was searched and no explosive device was found, so there was no threat to the public.
Pabst Theater Group, the operator of the Riverside Theater, said it would work with LaBelle to reschedule the show.
