Brendan Fraser can’t hold back tears after winning Best Actor for breakthrough performance whale At the 95th Annual Academy Awards.
Holding a golden trophy, mummy The star was visibly overwhelmed by his victory as he delivered a rousing speech at the prestigious awards ceremony.
“This is what the multiverse is like,” quipped Fraser, who is returning to the big screen after years with Darren Aronofsky, in his acceptance speech.
“My goodness, I thank the academy for this honor and our studio A24 for making such a bold film. I’m grateful [director] Darren Aronofsky gave me a creative lifeline and dragged me aboard the wonderful ship of the whale,” the actor said.
“It was written by our lighthouse, Samuel D. Hunter,” Fraser added, before acknowledging his other nominees Austin Butler, Colin Colin Farrell, Paul Mescal and Bill Nigh established the “[their] Whale sized heart bare so we can see your soul like no other. ”
Fraser said it was an “honor” to be nominated alongside them, and went on to pay special tribute to Hong Zhou, saying: “Only a whale can swim in the depths of Hong Zhou’s talent.”
“I started this business 30 years ago and things were not easy for me, but I didn’t like the facility at the time until it stopped. I just want to say thank you for the acknowledgment,” Fraser said.
“Because it couldn’t have been done without my cast. It’s like I’ve been on a diving expedition to the bottom of the ocean, and the air on the surface line is being launched while being watched by some of my people live.
Before wrapping up his speech, Fraser added, “Like my sons Holden and Leland, and Griffin, I love you Griffin, my manager Joanne Kelowna (spelling?), Jennifer Plant. My best first mate Jenny. Thank you again, everyone and everyone. I appreciate you very much. Good night.”
